Choose your eBay site and seller type
Fees differ by country, and in the UK, Germany, France and Italy private sellers pay far less than businesses. Pick where your listing goes live.
Pick the category and your Store plan
Each category has its own final value fee, and on eBay.com and eBay.ca a Basic Store or higher lowers the rate in most categories.
Enter the sale and your costs
Add the sold price, the shipping the buyer paid and, on eBay.com, the buyer’s sales tax. Then add what the item and the label cost you.
Open the extras if they apply
Promoted Listings, an international buyer, Top Rated Plus or a Below Standard seller level all change the fee. The last panel finds the price you need for a target profit and tests whether a Store would save you money.
The formula
How eBay works out its fees
eBay’s main charge is the final value fee: a percentage of the total amount the buyer pays, which includes the item price, the shipping and handling the buyer paid, and on eBay.com any sales tax eBay collects. A fixed per-order fee is added once per order, however many items are in it.
In most categories the percentage drops above a set amount per item. On eBay.com without a Store that is 13.6% up to $7,500, then 2.35% on the rest. Some categories switch rate on the whole amount instead: once a handbag or a piece of jewelry passes the threshold, the lower rate applies to the entire sale.

Everything else is added to the same total: Promoted Listings at the ad rate you chose, an international fee when the buyer lives abroad, a regulatory operating fee on most European sites, and VAT on the fees for business sellers in the UK and the EU. Top Rated Plus takes 10% off the percentage part, and a Below Standard seller level adds percentage points.

Above that, Pro Starter charges 13.4% up to A$4,000 per item plus A$0.30 per order; paid Pro plans have lower rates and A$0.33 per order. Fees include GST.

On eBay.com and eBay.ca a Basic Store or higher lowers the final value fee in most categories and gives you more free listings each month. In the UK, Ireland and most of Europe the percentage is the same with or without a Shop; there a Shop only pays for itself through free listings and Shop features.

Checking your fees
Why Seller Hub may show a different number
- Sales tax. On eBay.com the fee is charged on the tax eBay collected. Enter the buyer’s tax rate to match.
- Shipping. The fee is charged on the shipping the buyer paid, not on what your label cost.
- Promoted Listings. An ad fee appears when the buyer clicked a promoted listing within 30 days, even if they bought another way.
- Currency conversion. If eBay pays you in a different currency, a conversion charge comes off your payout. It is not a selling fee, so it is not in the total here.

How accurate is the eBay fee calculator?
It uses the final value fees, per-order fees and extra charges from each eBay site’s own fee pages, checked on October 18, 2026 and rechecked every three months. Seller Hub is the final word for your own account, because eBay can apply credits, promotions or account-specific rates.
Does the calculator include shipping and sales tax?
Yes. eBay charges its percentage on the total the buyer pays, so enter the shipping the buyer paid and, on eBay.com and eBay.ca, the buyer’s sales tax rate. Your own label cost is a cost, not part of the fee.
Can it work out the price I need for a profit?
Yes. Open “What price do I need?”, enter the profit you want per order, and the calculator finds the lowest price that gives it after eBay’s fees and your costs. It also shows your break-even price.
Does it work for private sellers in the UK and Europe?
Yes. On sites where private sellers are charged differently, such as the UK, Germany, France and Italy, choose “Private seller” and the calculator applies the private rules, including the sites where private selling is free.
Does it add VAT on eBay’s fees?
For business sellers on eBay sites in the UK and the EU, eBay adds VAT to its fees. The calculator adds it by default; untick the box if you are VAT registered and reclaim it.
How does the Store check work?
Enter a typical sale and how many orders like it you get a month. The calculator works out a month of fees under each Store plan, adds the subscription, and marks the cheapest plan for you. Insertion fees above your free listings are not included.
Does the calculator handle orders with several items?
Yes. Set the quantity: the final value fee is worked out per item, and the per-order fee is charged once for the whole order, as eBay does.
Why is my Seller Hub fee different from the calculator?
Usually because of sales tax, the shipping the buyer paid, or a Promoted Listings click within 30 days. Enter the same amounts here to see where the difference comes from.
Is this eBay fee calculator free and private?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, needs no account, and nothing you type is sent to us. You can copy a link to share a result; the link holds only the amounts you entered.
