3dcart templates now run under the Shift4Shop name, on the same platform 3dcart built. We redesign Shift4Shop themes for owners who stay, and move stores to Shopify or BigCommerce for owners who leave, with every old address redirected. Our New Jersey team quotes a fixed price first.
Why it matters
Where 3dcart templates and themes stand in 2026
Shift4 bought 3dcart in November 2020 and renamed it Shift4Shop in January 2021. The admin, the template files and the help center at support.3dcart.com stayed the same, and Shift4’s annual report for 2025 still lists Shift4Shop among its products. Nobody has announced a shutdown. Since the rename, the free plan has depended on taking card payments through Shift4, and a store that keeps another processor pays a monthly platform fee.
The templates themselves have changed little in ten years. Most stores run a Core theme, built on Bootstrap, and a custom theme is still a folder with a frame.html file and a CSS folder, uploaded over FTP and applied in Themes & Styles. The Theme Editor only works on some Core themes, drag and drop editing only covers the home page, the blog and content pages, and Shift4Shop’s support team doesn’t help with custom HTML, CSS or design.
Our 3dcart website design work goes back to 2012, with stores for sellers of bike parts, reconditioned dental tools, IT hardware, supplements and costumes, and many of them also sold on eBay with a matching store design. Today most 3dcart owners who call us ask one of two things: can the store look and work better where it is, or how do they move it to Shopify or BigCommerce without losing customers and rankings. We do both, and we tell you which one we think fits after we look at your store.

What decides the cost of a Shift4Shop redesign or migration
We don’t publish one price, because a theme refresh and a full move are different projects. You get a fixed quote after a free consultation, and these are the things that move it up or down.

Migration
How to move from Shift4Shop without losing rankings
Google ranks your pages by their addresses and their content. A careful Shift4Shop migration keeps both, and every address that has to change gets a 301 redirect to its new page.
Save everything while you have access
Export products, customers and orders, download the theme folder and images over FTP, and export the redirect list from Marketing, SEO Tools, Edit Page Redirects. Save the Unmapped Pages report too. It lists the addresses that return errors, and it only keeps about 15 days.
Record what ranks today
We list every page that gets visits from Google, with its address, title and description, so nothing that earns traffic gets lost.
Design and build the new store
Your Shopify or BigCommerce theme is designed and built on a store that isn’t live yet, so Shift4Shop keeps taking orders.
Move the data with a test run first
A migration app moves a sample of products, customers and orders. We check options, images and order totals before the full run.
Map every old address
Each product, category and content page address gets a 301 redirect to its new page, imported as a CSV into the new platform’s redirect manager. That covers Shift4Shop’s default addresses, which end in _p_ or _c_ plus a number and .html, custom page names and old .asp links. Shopify warns that links with a query string may not redirect as expected, so we test those one by one.
Switch payments and the domain
The new payment provider is set up and tested before the domain moves, so checkout never goes down.
Keep Shift4Shop open, then watch
Keep the old account until the new store has taken real orders. We resubmit your sitemap and check Google Search Console for errors in the weeks after launch.

What moves from Shift4Shop and what doesn’t
Neither Shopify nor BigCommerce has its own Shift4Shop importer, so the data moves with a third-party app such as Cart2Cart, LitExtension or Next-Cart. Some parts of a store never move.

Is Shift4Shop shutting down?

Can you customize my Shift4Shop theme?
Yes. We customize Core themes and build custom themes from the theme’s frame.html and CSS files, then upload and apply them in Themes & Styles. Shift4Shop’s own support doesn’t edit custom code, so changes after launch come from us.
Should I stay on Shift4Shop or move?
Stay if you are happy processing cards through Shift4 and your main problem is how the store looks. Move if you want your own payment provider, need apps Shift4Shop doesn’t have. We look at your store and tell you which we would choose.
How much does a Shift4Shop redesign or migration cost?
It depends on whether you stay or move, how many page designs you need, the size of your catalog, your apps and how many old addresses need redirects. After a free consultation we send a fixed quote that doesn’t change once work starts.
How long does a Shift4Shop migration take?
About six weeks for most stores, from the consultation to launch, including the new design. Very large catalogs and stores with many old addresses take longer.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave Shift4Shop?
Not if every old address is redirected. We list the pages that get traffic, map each old product, category and content address to its new page with a 301 redirect, and watch Google Search Console after launch.
Will my customers need new passwords?
Usually yes. Most migrations move customer accounts without their passwords, and customers reset them on the new store. We plan an email that explains the change and links customers to the password reset page.
What happens to my Shift4 Payments account when I move?
You set up a new payment provider on Shopify or BigCommerce, and close your Shift4 merchant account separately. Read your Shift4 agreement for its cancellation terms before you give notice, and keep the old store open until the new checkout has taken real orders.
Can Shopify import my Shift4Shop store directly?
Not with Shopify’s own Store Migration app, which doesn’t list Shift4Shop. Third-party apps such as Cart2Cart, LitExtension and Next-Cart move Shift4Shop products, customers and orders to Shopify or BigCommerce, and we choose the one that fits your data.
Is Shopify or BigCommerce better for a former 3dcart store?
Shopify suits stores that want the largest app store and simple editing. BigCommerce suits large catalogs with many product options and stores that sell to trade buyers with their own price lists. We design for both, so we can recommend either one.
How do I reach Shift4Shop support?
Through the phone, email and ticket options listed on shift4shop.com and in its help center at support.3dcart.com. We are an independent design agency, not Shift4Shop support. We can help with the theme and code questions that Shift4Shop’s support policy leaves out, such as custom HTML, CSS and design changes.
Does Shift4Shop work with QuickBooks Online?
Not through its built-in connector, which supports US desktop editions of QuickBooks only. QuickBooks Online needs a third-party connector. If accounting is a reason you are thinking of moving, both Shopify and BigCommerce have QuickBooks Online apps.
Can my eBay store match my new website?
Yes. We design eBay stores and listing templates as well as Shopify and BigCommerce themes, so both can share one look. Our SalesChannelHub software can also keep stock and orders in step across eBay and your new store.
