How we write our guides

The Journal is written by the OC Designs Online team. We have designed eBay stores and listing templates, and Shopify, BigCommerce and WordPress stores, since 2005. This page explains how our guides are made, so you can judge how far to rely on them.

Where the facts come from

• Platform rules, sizes, fees and limits come from the platform's own documentation (eBay, Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and others), linked in the guide where we use them.
• Prices and plans are dated ("as of October 2026"), because platforms change them often. Check the platform's pricing page before you decide.
• Examples and screenshots come from our own designs and portfolio unless the caption credits someone else.
• When we can't confirm something from a reliable source, we leave it out.

How a guide is checked

• Before writing, we look at what people actually search for and what the current top results cover, so each guide answers a real question.
• Every factual statement is checked against its source before the guide is published.
• We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, for research and drafting. A guide is published only after it has been fact-checked and reviewed.

Updates

We revisit guides when a platform changes its rules or features. An "Updated" date appears under the title only when the content was actually revised, not for small fixes.

Our own services

We sell store design, listing templates, integrations and SalesChannelHub, our inventory software. When a guide mentions one of them, it says it is ours. We are not paid to mention other companies' products, and links to them are not affiliate links.
